Welcome to Mrs. Babula’s sixth grade classroom! We are going to have a fantastic year learning new things, getting to know each other and having fun!
I wanted to share a little bit about myself before we start the year. This is my 4th year teaching at NYM, but 7th as a teacher. Just like you, I also went received my education from New York Mills, starting in first grade up until my last year of high-school. It is so cool to be teaching in the very same room that I had 6th grade ELA and Science! After graduating from NYM I went to MVCC in Utica for two years, then to SUNY Oswego to get my bachelor's degree in History. (I still love learning about history to this day!) I went on to Utica College for my master's degree in teaching and finally found myself back where I started (after teaching in Pensacola, Florida and up the street at Notre Dame.)
My favorite thing to do in my spare time is read. My favorite genre is historial fiction. I have worked hard to put together a great classroom library and hope you can find something you like reading this year too! I also like to travel and try to do that as much as I can during the summer or on our breaks. I love all kinds of music and my favorite foods are sushi and turkey subs. You will probably see me with a Dunkin’ iced coffee every morning too!
My family is very important to me. My husband, Mike, and I have a daughter Alice, who is a year and a half old. She is full of energy and I love watching her learn new things every day! She started gymnastics this summer and learned to somersault in just two classes! She loves to read books, listen to music and dance too. She absolutely loves dogs and all kinds of animals and can make so many different animal sounds! We have another baby on the way, due in November. I can't wait to see if it will be a boy or a girl! It will be quite the surprise!
I can't wait to get to know you all this year! I hope you enjoyed your summer and are ready to learn!
