Meet the Teachers

Mr. Eric Vollmer

Hello Everyone!  Mr. Vollmer has an open-door policy where any student that wants to create some art is welcome to come to the art studio #145 and express themselves through any art medium of their choosing.  Mr Vollmer has been teaching in CNY for 20 years and is proud to be part of the NYM School District.  He is the 7th-12th grade art teacher. Mr. V teaches all art mediums and is most passionate about ceramics.  He has created a new Feats of Clay Art Club where 20 selected students will go to Onondaga Community College on the first Friday in May and use the pottery wheel to compete against 30 other local school districts in a clay war.  Mr. Vollmer is here to support and assist all students in creating art that will be showcased in an annual art show at the end of the year.  Please come and check out some of the awesome art projects being created this year.

Mrs. Arifa Velletto

Mrs. Arifa Velletto is the elementary art teacher. She has been teaching art to students in grades K-12 for the past 10 years. She has been at New York Mills School District since 2019. Mrs. Velletto holds a Bachelors in Art Education and Masters in Elementary Education/Special Education along with NYState Certifications in all three areas. Her true passion is teaching Art, and in addition to teaching at NYM, she travels to BOCES daily to teach Alternative Ed. Art. Mrs. Velletto appreciates and loves all mediums of art, and wants to help her students understand and appreciate art through exploration of different mediums, art history and hands-on projects. Her art room is a space where students can let their thoughts and creativity run wild.
