Ability Awareness Day 2019
November 13 marked the 20th year of Ability Awareness Day, chaired by Special Education Teacher Mrs. Zogby.
The Elementary School had various workshops about individuals with disabilities and participated in activities such as reading braille, playing wheelchair basketball with the Sitrin Stars, visiting with a service dog named Echo and more.
Students in grades 7-12 were visited by motivational speaker Carrie Berrgeron, who spoke about her life experiences growing up with Down Syndrome and overcoming many challenges and obstacles. Carrie has been featured in "The Wall Street Journal," "The View," "20/20" and “The Oprah Winfrey Show"- just to name a few.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day an extremely positive, educational and fun experience!
