Empowering Young Readers: Meet K–6 Reading Specialist Ms. Megan Jarosz

Dedicated to providing systematic, evidence-based literacy instruction, Ms. Jarosz is taking her reading room to the next level. She is undergoing Orton-Gillingham Plus training to implement fresh strategies, tools and explicit instructional methods designed to ensure every elementary student builds strong foundational reading skills.

This year’s Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program, “Kick Off the Summer with a Great Book,” was a standout success under her leadership. The event successfully united students, staff, families and the local community through a shared love of reading, creating fun learning moments and core memories along the way.

Driven by a commitment to evidence-based instruction, Ms. Jarosz shares her core philosophy: “I am passionate about learning more about the science of reading and advocating for children to ensure they get what they need to be successful.”

As an active member of the District’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Leadership team, Ms. Jarosz regularly collaborates with colleagues to monitor student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions. Her work ensures that literacy instruction is tailored so every New York Mills student can thrive.
