During the morning, I teach 12:1:1 ELA and Math to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. 12:1:1 stands for 12 students to 1 teacher and 1 paraprofessional. For this program, students receive an ELA and/or math curriculum at their instructional levels. These students then return to their homerooms for the remainder of the day and participate in special area classes, lunch/recess, and science and social studies with their peers. After lunch, I run the Resource Room for 4th and 5th graders. Here we work on basic reading, writing, and/or math skills. We also work on the curriculum that is being taught in the regular education classroom, whether it be science, social studies, mathematics, ELA, or study skills. We do this so that the students can have extra practice with what the classroom teachers are teaching. After all, "practice makes perfect." Students' IEPs or 504 Plans will be followed in all areas of the school building.
