A Message to the New York Mills School Community
On behalf of the Board of Education, administration, students, staff and the entire community, I am pleased to share that the Board of Education held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony last night to unveil one of the newly renovated spaces as part of phase two of our Capital Improvement Project; the Jr./Sr. high school gymnasium.
Yesterday represents far more than the opening of a new gym and locker room facility. It represents investment — investment in our students, their health and wellness, teamwork and the pride that defines our school community.
This moment is especially meaningful as this project marks the first major Capital Improvement in the space since the 1968 addition to our school. For nearly six decades, generations of Marauders have learned, practiced, competed and built memories there. Now, we honor that history while ensuring our facilities reflect the needs and opportunities of today’s students and those who will follow.
Athletics and physical education teach lessons that extend well beyond competition. They build resilience, leadership, discipline and solidarity. These new facilities provide our students with a safe, modern environment where they can grow, challenge themselves and represent our school with pride.
This project was made possible through the collective support of our community, the vision of our Board of Education and the dedication of countless individuals who planned, designed and constructed this outstanding space. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life.
As the proud Home of the Marauders, we know that school spirit lives not only in victories, but in opportunity; and with this newly renovated space, we open doors to new opportunities for our students, athletes and community members alike.
May this gymnasium be filled with energy, sportsmanship, perseverance and unforgettable moments for many years to come.
We are so excited to celebrate this milestone with you. It was my honor to officially welcome the Board as they prepared to cut the ribbon and open this new chapter for our Marauders.
Sincerely,
Michele D. LaGase
Superintendent
