On May 14, the New York Mills Music Department held its Jr./Sr. High School Band and Chorus Spring Concert, highlighting the dedication and talent of student performers across several ensembles.

The vocal program directed by Ms. Teresa Lovecchio and accompanied by Ms. Mindy Polarolo featured a selection of contemporary and rhythmic pieces. The Jr./Sr. high concert choir performed "Hands are Knockin’," featuring soloists Carter Lovecchio and Bryanna Sloan, percussionist Billy Ostolaza Castellano and pianist Liam Mahardy. The group also performed "From the Start," which included a solo ensemble of students: Aidyn Barber, Polina Donchuk, Tayla Sebastian, Grayson Sumner, Teagan Fennell, Eva Miga, Hailey Orilio and Ariana Willey. Additionally, the choir performed "Unwritten," featuring soloists Billy Ostolaza Castellano and Melody Lovecchio. Other choral selections included "Time," "Flight" and "Too Much Percussion."

Mr. James Pierce directed the instrumental portion of the evening. The seventh and eighth grade concert band opened the set with "Newcastle Overture" and "Groovee," followed by the grades nine through 12 concert band performing "Metal!" and "Colonel Bogey." The seventh and eighth grade jazz band concluded the instrumental program with a performance of "The Pink Panther."

Special recognition was given to Junior High All-County participants as well as senior band and choir members for their commitment to the music program. The success of the event was supported by the New York Mills Board of Education and the school administration. Thank you to the families and community members whose support remains essential to these young musicians.

Congratulations to all of our musicians and teachers on a spectacular performance!
