Kindergarten Tree Planting

Student digging

On May 3, the graduating class of 2036 planted a tree on school grounds in honor of Arbor Day. An annual tree dedication ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion.

During the spring of 2001, the New York Mills Board of Education accepted a grant from the Donna and George E. Herthum Family Fund of the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc. Interest earned annually is used each year by the kindergarten class to plant a tree.

We would like to thank the Herthum family for the 23 years that they have generously contributed to make this celebration possible; enhancing our kindergarten science curriculum and beautifying school grounds.
