Mohawk Valley Jugglers Hockey Team to Honor Mr. Mahanna
The team, which sometimes features players from as many as 16 local high schools including New York Mills, Camden, Central Valley, Herkimer, Holland Patent, Little Falls, Mount Markham, Notre Dame, Oneida, Oriskany, Proctor, Sauquoit Valley, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, Waterville, West Canada Valley and Westmoreland, will hold a special Teacher Appreciation/Recognition Ceremony on January 11.
Before the start of its game against Liverpool at The Nexus Center in Utica, the team will honor several teachers for their contributions to education. Each teacher was nominated by a player on the team. Forward Mason St.James chose Mr. Mahanna, earth science and eighth grade science teacher at New York Mills Jr./Sr. High School, to be honored. Mason admires Mr. Mahanna’s positive, upbeat personality, his dedication and commitment to his students, his value of education and his respect for others.
After the game, the team will hold a reception for all of the teachers who were recognized.
