NHS Induction Ceremony
On March 26, the New York Mills Union Free School District celebrated a significant milestone as 16 students were officially inducted into the Phi Delta Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). As the nation’s oldest and most prestigious student recognition program, membership is a high honor reserved for those who consistently demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the evening featured two special awards funded by the Miga family and friends. We were honored to have Wester Miga in attendance to present these awards in honor of his parents:
- Tutor of the Year Award: Presented to Mark Klein Jr. in recognition of the exceptional time and commitment he has dedicated to the Marauder Mentoring Program.
- Walter Miga Memorial Award: Presented to Abbey Calhoun for her embodiment of the characteristics that defined Mr. Miga: honesty, generosity and perseverance.
To be inducted into the National Honor Society is a testament to years of hard work and a genuine desire to lead by example. The New York Mills Union Free School District extends its heartfelt congratulations to our newest inductees and award recipients. We look forward to seeing the continued impact you make as you uphold the traditions of the NHS.
Congratulations to the 2026 inductees and award winners!
