Sixth Grade Graduation

On June 23, New York Mills Elementary School celebrated its Class of 2026 (and future high school class of 2032) during a heartwarming Moving Up Ceremony attended by students, families, teachers and administrators. The event recognized the accomplishments, growth and hard work of the sixth grade students as they prepare to begin the next chapter of their educational journey.

The ceremony began with student Kya Sebastian leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Students then shared their creativity and individuality through a presentation of "I Am" poems before showcasing their musical talents. Choir and band students performed “Fly Away Home” by Pinkzebra, directed by elementary Choir Director Mrs. Evans, and “Montego Bay” by Chuck Elledge, led by Band Director Mr. Pierce.

Interim K-12 Principal Mrs. DiSpirito delivered a keynote address, offering words of encouragement and inspiration as students prepared to make the transition to junior high school.

Following the address, Mrs. DiSpirito, along with the students' sixth grade teachers Mrs. Babula, Mr. Kuhn, Mrs. Malagese and Ms. Stamboly, presented awards recognizing students for their achievements throughout the school year. Each sixth grader was then presented with a New York Mills Elementary certificate of completion, celebrating the successful completion of their elementary school years.

The ceremony concluded with the entire class proudly performing the alma mater. Following the program, students and their families gathered for a reception to celebrate this important milestone and reflect on the memories and accomplishments that made their elementary years so special.

Congratulations to the New York Mills Elementary Class of 2026! We wish each of you continued success as you begin your journey into seventh grade and look forward to all you will accomplish in the years ahead.
