Veterans Day Celebration 2025

A large group of people, including children and adults, gathered in front of a stage with a banner that reads "Honoring All Who Served" in a dimly lit auditorium or event space.

On November 12, the New York Mills community came together to honor the bravery and sacrifices of local veterans during the school’s annual Veterans Day Celebration. Faculty, staff, students and community members gathered at New York Mills Union Free School to express their deep appreciation for those who have served in the military.

Upon arrival, a “Hero Wall” featuring photos of local service members, friends and family greeted veterans and their families. The ceremony, focused on the theme “Together We Celebrate,” featured heartfelt tributes. Students in grades K-6, along with the high school chorus, took part in the ceremony by singing songs, sharing insights about the different branches of the military and reflecting on the meaning of Veterans Day.

The tribute was deeply moving, with heartfelt performances that brought the entire auditorium to its feet. Veterans were individually called forward to receive a commemorative pen and journal, a gesture symbolizing the community's respect and admiration for their dedication and sacrifices.

The ceremony concluded with a powerful rendition of Lee Greenwood’s "God Bless the USA" ("Proud to be an American"). Following the hour-long tribute, the High School Student Council hosted a reception, bringing a warm close to a memorable day.

New York Mills faculty and staff extend their sincere gratitude to all who participated and supported this meaningful event. Your presence and support helped make this a day to remember.
