NYM Battle of the Books Club Places Second in Regional Battle

On May 11, the four winners from the local Battle of the Books competition represented New York Mills at the Regional Battle of the Books.

Nathaneal Dzwonkowski, Emma Davidson, Kaylee Frank and Andrew Tallman competed against Holland Patent, Clinton and Richfield Springs, answering nearly 100 book-related questions with the correct titles and authors’ names. While the regional competition is usually held in-person, this year’s competition was held remotely with each team answering the timed questions at their own school. The results were then compared, and the New York Mills team finished in second place.

“It was a fierce competition and I am very proud of the students,” said Mrs. Howe, advisor of the Battle of the Books Club at New York Mills.

Congratulations to Nathaneal, Emma, Kaylee and Andrew!

Any students who will be entering grades six, seven and eight next school year who are interested in participating in Battle of the Books should contact Mrs. Howe before the end of this school year. You can stop by room 110 or email her at dhowe@newyorkmills.org.
