On June 14, students at New York Mills Elementary School had fun running, jumping, throwing and participating in other friendly competitions during Olympic Day. The event was held outside on the track, football field and baseball field, and it concluded with some intense games of Rock Paper Scissors in the gymnasium.
At the end of the day, the Orange and Blue teams were tied with 340 points each, so a tie breaker was held the following morning between the second grade teams. After competing in a hula hoop challenge, relay race and scooter race, the Orange Team was declared the winner by 10 points.
Thank you to Coach Keating and all of the staff and student volunteers who helped to make Olympic Day a success once again!
Through combined efforts of students, staff, parents, and community members, our mission is to foster the confidence, knowledge, cognition, and character necessary to instill a strong work ethic, to create an environment of tolerance and respect, and to ignite an attitude of inquiry and enthusiasm for learning that will enable students to become productive, responsible citizens.
